anyway my idea was

a rock band clone but the drummer's timing windows are really, really lenient, and the tempo changes to match the drummer

so you're not trying to keep an actual beat, you're trying to lock in with the drummer, who should in theory be keeping an actual beat but who knows

@monorail interesting idea tbh. i think the main problem would be to reduce lag from drummer to the others
@monorail why would it be worse? i mean the idea isn't really bad imo

@absturztaube because everyone else's performance is tied to how good of a drummer you have. if your drummer sucks, your guitarist can't make up for them

it's kind of how it works for real bands but that doesn't make it fun in a videogame

@katrani seems less like team-building and more like "yelling at your drummer simulator 2012"

But you gotta trust the drummer to keep a beat you can folllow and they gotta trust you to keep up!!

@katrani that's also true of regular rock band, it's just that one player failing doesn't directly hurt the others
